Dragonfly

Single frame DV image. Hand held. August 1999

One cool spring day I spied this dragonfly sunning himself on a crocus blossom. He must have just emerged from hibernation, for he never moved, even for this close-up. I manually set the camera for minimum focus and set the zoom to about midway, knowing that this would give me the biggest magnification that the camera's native lens can deliver.. Then I just moved closer and closer, until the image became sharp and pushed the button. Who says you can't get shallow depth of field with video?
